Hi my name is Frank, I am 43 years old and I have 6 children. I have been married, divorced and married again.
I want to start my first real blog here to tell you about my first real blog:
When I go back in time to early nineties, I got connected to other people around the world with my 14.4 kbps modem for the first time. I bought an internet package from my ISP (Internet Service Provider). I didn’t only get a username and a password; I also got an email address and my own homepage. This homepage was my first “blog”. I used html to write “This is the homepage of Frank”. I remember I was very proud when I successfully managed to get a blue background, a week later. Another few days later I found out how to write my heading in bold letters.
For me back in the eighties and nineties, there were two important goals, just to show I was a meaningful person and a part of the society.
1. My name printed in the phone book
2. To be a part of the internet.
In fact it wasn’t a big deal to be printed in the phone book, no one noticed me there except the public offices. About the internet, well I called my friends and family and told about my fantastic new homepage, and gave them my URL. Same answers!? from them all: Internet? URL? http? What? What are you talking about?
- I suddenly found out; I was on the internet, alone.
Well, I wasn’t quiet alone. There were a lot of people on the internet. I used something called IRC to meet people, and after a while I found an application called ICQ. I met a lot of people from all of the world, but not my family and friends. They didn’t show up before after 5-6 years, just to send me all kind of OLD funny pictures, and those usual internet stories and jokes, yes, you know those you get your mailbox full of. “You should see this, this is awesome!” – ”I’ve seen this a hundred times before, but thank you for sending me, and btw welcome to the internet…”
To be continued…
